Amazon refreshes Kindle lineup with new hardware designs

Amazon has released a major update to its Kindle e-reader lineup, featuring redesigned hardware and new models. The refresh introduces a “flat front” design that eliminates the gap between the display and the bezel for a seamless, single-piece appearance.

The entry-level tier now includes two versions: a standard 16GB model weighing 140g and an upgraded 32GB “Kindle Aluminum” model. The aluminum version features a premium metal casing, increased storage, and integrated magnets for cases, though it is slightly heavier at 162g.

Higher-end options include the 7-inch Kindle Paperwhite and the Kindle Colorsoft, which features a color display. The Paperwhite offers up to 12 weeks of battery life, while the Colorsoft provides up to 8 weeks. A renewed Kids Kindle is also expected to launch in November.
