Amazon revenue growth accelerates to five-year high driven by AWS and AI

Amazon has experienced a significant acceleration in revenue growth, reaching 20% in the second quarter, its fastest rate in five years. This surge is largely attributed to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which saw revenue grow 37% to $42.2 billion, driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence. The company expects continued momentum and has forecasted $200 billion in capital expenditures, much of which is earmarked for data centers to support AWS and AI computing.

In addition to operational growth, Amazon is seeing substantial interest from institutional investors. Recent SEC filings reveal several major acquisitions of Amazon stock. Wealthfront Advisers LLC purchased a new stake valued at approximately $305.4 million, while Gables Capital Management Inc. invested roughly $5.5 million. Mowery & Schoenfeld Wealth Management LLC also acquired a new position valued at approximately $955,000. Overall, hedge funds and institutional investors maintain a 72.20% ownership stake in the company.
