Amazon Ring launches 4K security doorbell tailored for Japan
Amazon's home security brand, Ring, has released the ‘Ring 防犯ドアホン プロ’ (Ring Video Doorbell Pro), a model specifically developed to meet Japanese housing standards and electrical specifications. Unlike previous battery-operated models that required frequent recharging, this version utilizes existing doorbell wiring to provide continuous power, eliminating the need for battery maintenance.
The device features a 4K resolution camera with 10x zoom, allowing for high-detail monitoring of entrances and delivery packages. Key technological features include motion sensors, a built-in siren, and AI-driven ‘Smart Video Notifications’ that provide text-based descriptions of activity, such as identifying specific people or movements.
Users can access advanced features like facial recognition through a Ring Home subscription. While the device requires professional electrical installation, Amazon offers an affordable installation service in conjunction with the product purchase. The system integrates with mobile apps and Amazon Echo Show, enabling remote communication and monitoring.
