Amazon secures 200 MW wind power deals in Sweden

Amazon has entered into long-term agreements to purchase approximately 200 megawatts (MW) of electricity from four wind farms in Sweden. These deals are intended to support the company’s expanding data center operations and growing demand for cloud computing infrastructure in the Nordic region.

The wind farms are being developed by Swedish renewable energy companies Eolus AB and OX2 AB. Once these projects are fully operational, Amazon’s total contracted power supply in Sweden is expected to exceed 1 gigawatt (GW). The expansion follows a trend of major technology firms utilizing Sweden’s cool climate and renewable energy access to power energy-intensive digital infrastructure.
