Masters of the Universe launches on Prime Video July 22

Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel’s live‑action reboot of the 1980s franchise, *Masters of the Universe*, will be available worldwide on Prime Video starting July 22, 2026, just 47 days after its theatrical debut on June 5. Directed by Travis Knight and starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He‑Man, the film also features Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Man‑At‑Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin and others. The movie cost roughly $170‑200 million to produce but earned only about $113 million at the box office, falling short of recouping its budget. Amazon will stream the title at no extra charge for Prime subscribers, skipping the usual premium‑VOD window. Prime Video will also add the film’s three post‑credits scenes in HD, and the platform promotes related content such as earlier Masters of the Universe titles. The production highlighted sustainable on‑set practices, using electric Mercedes vehicles and hydrogen‑power units, and partners with Save the Children on a “You Have the Power” campaign. Amazon describes the release as a global streaming event intended to give the film a second‑life after its under‑performing theatrical run.
