Amazon stock sees major activity from billionaire hedge funds

Major hedge fund managers and institutional investors showed significant activity regarding Amazon stock during the second quarter. Billionaire-led funds managed by Peter Thiel and David Tepper both increased their holdings in the company.

In contrast, Soros Fund Management reduced its position in Amazon by approximately 40% during the same period. Despite this reduction, Amazon remains the top position in George Soros’s $8.14 billion portfolio, which also maintains significant concentrations in Alphabet and Taiwan Semiconductor.

Amazon continues to invest heavily in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The company expects to spend $220 billion on data center construction in 2026. This follows strong performance from Amazon Web Services (AWS), which reported a 37% year-over-year revenue growth and a 64% increase in operating income during the second quarter.
