Amazon targets Paulo Andrade for Prime Video sports lead

Amazon is reportedly preparing an official proposal to hire sports commentator Paulo Andrade from Grupo Globo to serve as a primary voice for Prime Video. The streaming giant aims to establish a central figure for its sports broadcasts following the recent departures of Rômulo Mendonça Ribeiro Batista and Galvão Bueno.

Amazon intends to position Andrade as the lead narrator for several major competitions, including the Campeonato Brasileiro, the Copa do Brasil, and the NBA. His experience narrating both football and basketball is considered a key asset for the platform's diverse sports portfolio. The proposed deal may also include opportunities for Andrade to participate in advertising campaigns and serve as a prominent face for Amazon's sports communication.

Andrade, who joined Globo in 2024 after a long tenure at ESPN, has a background that includes work with RedeTV!, SBT, and Disney. Amazon's push for high-profile talent aligns with its long-term broadcasting commitments, which include rights for the Copa do Brasil through 2030, the Brasileirão until 2029, and the NBA until 2035.
