Amazon third-party seller scams involving high-end GPUs

A recent incident in online retail highlights ongoing risks when purchasing high-performance hardware through third-party platforms. A buyer attempting to purchase an MSI RTX 5080 SUPRIM Liquid SOC for approximately $1,400 via the Amazon marketplace seller 'Vividcrate' received a vacuum flask instead of the requested GPU.

The fraudulent shipment included a professionally designed brochure containing fake support contact information, specifically the email address 'Support@AmazonService.xyz'. Such tactics are designed to divert victims from official platform complaint channels to direct negotiations with scammers, which can complicate refund processes or lead to further data theft. The buyer has since returned the item to initiate a refund and reported the seller to the platform.

Similar fraudulent activities involving high-end graphics cards have also been noted by hardware experts in Germany.
