Amazon to invest hundreds of millions in Rheinberg logistics center
Amazon is investing several hundred million euros to modernize its logistics center in Rheinberg, Germany, through 2029. The project involves expanding storage capacity by adding intermediate levels to existing halls, aiming to increase the number of available items from 8 million to 20 million.
The modernization includes the large-scale implementation of hundreds of transport robots designed to carry mobile shelves directly to employees, reducing walking distances and increasing efficiency. As part of this expansion, the company expects to double its local workforce from approximately 1,000 to more than 2,000 employees by the end of 2029.
