Amazon to lay off 121 employees in Washington locations

Amazon has announced it will lay off 121 employees across several Washington locations, including Seattle, Bellevue, and Sumner. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the Washington State Employment Security Department, the separations are scheduled to begin on October 1, 2026, and will conclude by October 27.

The affected roles include software development engineers, various scientists, administrative support, service technicians, and associates. While the company did not specify the exact reason for this round of cuts, it stated that the action is not the result of a relocation or the contracting out of Washington operations.

This announcement is part of a larger trend of workforce reductions at Amazon. Over the past year, the company has conducted approximately 30,000 corporate job cuts globally, with more than 4,600 of those reductions occurring in Washington since last fall. This latest round follows previous filings in January, February, and July of 2026.
