James Bond game “007 First Light” sells 2.7 million copies, DLC announced and Amazon to publish sequels

IO Interactive’s James Bond action‑adventure ‘007 First Light’ sold 2.7 million copies in its first week, topping 2 million overall after a 1.5 million‑copy launch day. The developer outlined a Year One content roadmap that adds new Tactical Simulation missions in locations such as Kensington, the Slovakian mountains, a black‑market in Mauritania, Vietnam’s Pearl resort and new challenges involving Webb Industries. Additional updates will bring a new gadget – the Even G2 smart glasses – and a possible New Game+ mode, while a Nintendo Switch 2 version is slated for summer 2026.

The first story‑focused DLC will bring back the pirate‑king character Bawma, voiced by Lenny Kravitz, and send Bond to Mauritania for an extended narrative that deepens character relationships. The expansion addresses plot threads left open after the main game.

Amazon, which acquired the James Bond franchise, confirmed it will act as publisher for any future titles, though development is expected to remain with IO Interactive. The company clarified that its rights allow it to oversee sequels, while maintaining a “great relationship” with the studio. Analysts view the strong sales and Amazon’s publishing role as a sign of a potentially long‑term Bond video‑game franchise.
