Amazon to reduce return period to 14 days for many categories

Amazon is set to reduce its voluntary return period for many product categories from 30 days to the legally required 14 days, effective September 1, 2026. This change applies regardless of whether the items are fulfilled by Amazon or a third-party seller.

Several categories will be affected by this reduction, including baby products, beauty and luxury beauty, drugstore and personal care, garden and leisure, home and garden, pet supplies, luggage, bags, and backpacks, food and beverages, furniture, mobile electronics, musical instruments, tires, and wine.

Certain categories, such as clothing, will remain exempt from this change and continue to offer the 30-day return window. Amazon plans to display the specific return period for each item on its product detail pages to ensure clarity for customers.
