Amazon unveils redesigned Kindle lineup with flush displays

Amazon has unveiled a major redesign of its Kindle e-reader lineup, introducing the new standard Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft. The 2026 generation features a significant aesthetic shift, moving to flush-front displays that eliminate the raised bezels of previous models. The devices are also thinner and lighter, with some premium versions featuring aluminum backings made from recycled materials.

The standard 6-inch Kindle is now more compact and claims to open books 30% faster than its predecessor. The Kindle Paperwhite retains its 7-inch display but offers improved contrast and waterproofing, with battery life lasting up to 12 weeks. The Kindle Colorsoft introduces a redesigned color e-ink display optimized for comics and illustrated content.

To enhance the reading experience, Amazon is introducing new accessories, including the 'Kindle Click' Bluetooth remote and specialized magnetic covers with physical page-turning buttons. Pricing varies by model and region, with entry-level options starting around $149.99 or €154.99, while high-end Signature Editions with increased storage and premium finishes reach higher price points.
