Amazon Web Services commits $1 billion to embed AI engineers with customers
Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a $1 billion investment to launch AWS Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE), an organization that will embed teams of five to six AI engineers directly within client companies. The goal is to design, develop and put into production enterprise AI systems in days rather than months, while training client staff to operate and extend the solutions independently.
The FDE model combines human expertise with agentic AI tools, provides end‑to‑end documentation, knowledge graphs and secure, encrypted deployment within the client’s own AWS environment. AWS positions the effort as a response to similar deployment services launched by OpenAI and Anthropic, aiming to give customers rapid, in‑house AI capability without reliance on external consultants.
