Amazon Web Services expands AWS Elemental video streaming capabilities
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced four new capabilities to its AWS Elemental video services, aimed at enhancing live streaming monetization and viewer experience. Announced at the IBC 2026 trade show in Amsterdam, the updates include Dynamic Multiview in AWS Elemental MediaPackage, which allows streamers to deliver up to 11 synchronized video feeds in a single personalized channel. This feature enables viewers to choose their own multi-camera layouts without increasing encoding costs.
To improve revenue, AWS added Yield Optimization and Low-Latency Ad Insertion via AWS Elemental MediaTailor. This allows publishers to fill unsold ad slots with demand from Amazon’s own buyers and supports ad insertion for low-latency streams. Additionally, AWS Elemental Inference now includes AI-generated contextual metadata to describe on-screen action, facilitating new monetization opportunities.
JioHotstar is already utilizing the multiview feature to provide quad-view coverage for Indian Premier League cricket matches, scaling the experience to over 100 million viewers using a server-side composition approach.
