Amazonas and Pará launch sustainability and civic engagement initiatives

In the state of Amazonas, new initiatives have been launched to promote environmental sustainability and civic engagement. The Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) introduced the ‘Empreendedoras da Reciclagem’ and ‘Paraísos Lixo Zero’ programs. Supported by Abralatas, these projects aim to foster a circular economy and provide income opportunities for women and small entrepreneurs through waste management and recycling.

Simultaneously, in Belém, Pará, REPAM-Brasil launched the ‘Amazoniza-te’ and ‘Eu Voto pela Amazônia’ campaigns. Starting in the Terra Firme neighborhood, the initiative uses community dialogue and cinema to encourage conscious voting and the protection of Amazonian territories, forests, and peoples. The campaigns focus on strengthening democracy and formulating public policies that safeguard the lives and environments of those living in the Amazonian peripheries.
