Amazonas and Peru security forces seize 4.5 tons of skunk and heavy weaponry

An integrated operation between security forces from Amazonas, Brazil, and Peru resulted in the seizure of approximately 4.5 tons of skunk marijuana near Codajás, in the interior of Amazonas. The operation, which took place on the Solimões River, caused an estimated R$ 93 million in losses to organized crime.

The seizure included a significant arsenal described as war weaponry, consisting of three AK-47 rifles, two M60 machine guns, 45 magazines, and 5,810 rounds of ammunition. Authorities also confiscated a semi-armored speedboat equipped with six 250 HP outboard motors.

The interception led to a confrontation where suspects exchanged gunfire with police. While the occupants of the vessel managed to flee into the forest and remain at large, intelligence suggests the group may have consisted of at least eight individuals. The operation was the result of collaborative intelligence work between the Amazonas Civil Police, the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope), and the National Police of Peru.
