On 31 July 2024, Fabi Diniz de Queiroz Pilate was sworn in as a prosecutor of justice for the Amazonas State Public Prosecutor's Office, becoming the first transgender woman to hold the position anywhere in Brazil. The ceremony took place in Manaus at the Procuradoria‑Geral de Justiça and was led by prosecutor‑general Leda Mara Nascimento Albuquerque. Vice‑governor Serafim Corrêa attended and praised the historic nature of the appointment. Six new prosecutors, including Pilate, were appointed during the same ceremony.

Pilate, a law professor with a master’s degree in Human Rights, said she will use the visibility of the role to highlight the challenges faced by Brazil’s trans community. Officials described the swearing‑in as a milestone for diversity and inclusion within the Brazilian justice system.
