Amazonas Electoral Court Upholds Councilor Cassations over Gender‑Quota Fraud

The Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas (TRE‑AM) confirmed the removal of municipal councilors in two Amazonas municipalities after ruling that female candidacies were fabricated to satisfy the 30% gender‑quota requirement.

In Itacoatiara, councilor Aluísio Isper Netto (PV) was stripped of his mandate, and all votes for the Federation Brazil of Hope coalition were nullified. The court found that three female candidates on the ticket had virtually no votes and did not conduct genuine campaigns, deeming the list a fictitious gender‑quota fulfillment.

In Maraã, the court upheld the cassation of four councilors elected by União Brasil and one by Avante, annulling the parties’ votes and ordering a recalculation of electoral quotients that could alter the composition of the municipal chamber.
