Amazonas Governor Roberto Cidade Announces Massive Education Recruitment

Governor Roberto Cidade of the state of Amazonas announced a new public tender for the Secretariat of Education and Sports (Seduc) with 7,862 permanent positions – the largest recruitment in the state's education history. The contest will cover teachers, pedagogues, psychologists, social workers, engineers, support staff such as canteen workers and will include a set of reserved spots for indigenous candidates. The governor also confirmed a 4.14% salary base increase for education workers, to be paid in June with retroactive installments for March‑July, and said the state is studying the allocation of Fundeb resources to educators before year‑end.

Infrastructure upgrades were highlighted, with 52 schools already under renovation and a plan to refurbish an additional 100 schools across the interior and capital. Uniform distribution for roughly 75,000 students and school‑kit deliveries are also part of the package. The hiring process is slated to begin in 2026 after the selection of the exam‑organizing board, and the governor stressed transparency and the goal of strengthening the public‑school network for the more than 380,000 students enrolled in Amazonas.

The announcement was made at the Centro de Formação Profissional Padre José Anchieta (CEPAN) in Manaus, where the governor reaffirmed education as a top priority for his administration.
