Amazonas gubernatorial candidates propose youth employment initiatives

Candidates for the Amazonas governorship have presented competing proposals focused on youth employment and professional qualification.

Roberto Cidade proposed a state program designed to integrate schools, universities, and the private sector with the Amazonas Technological Education Center (Cetam). The initiative aims to provide vocational courses to prepare high school students for the job market, utilizing state resources and federal apprenticeship programs to facilitate internships and first-time employment.

David Almeida proposed strengthening the University of the State of Amazonas (UEA) and implementing the ‘Primeiro Emprego Amazonas’ program. His plan includes partnerships with companies and cooperatives to expand hiring opportunities. Additionally, Almeida intends to use the state’s Economic and Ecological Zoning (ZEE) to align professional training in rural municipalities with local economic potential through the ‘Qualifica Interior’ program.
