Amazonas gubernatorial candidates Omar Aziz and Roberto Cidade in technical tie

The race for the governorship of Amazonas is tightening as the 2026 elections approach. According to a recent survey by Instituto Pontual, candidates Omar Aziz (PSD) and Roberto Cidade (União Brasil) are in a technical tie. Aziz holds 27.9% of the voting intention, while Cidade follows closely with 27.1%, a difference of 0.8 percentage points that falls within the 1.79% margin of error.

Other candidates include Professora Maria do Carmo (PL) at 17.1% and David Almeida (Avante) at 16%. The polling shows regional variations: Roberto Cidade leads in the capital, Manaus, while Omar Aziz maintains a stronger presence in the state's interior.

In recent campaign activities, Omar Aziz announced plans to build a hospital in Presidente Figueiredo and pave the Balbina road to stimulate local agro-industry. Meanwhile, candidates such as Cabo Daciolo, Maria do Carmo, and Roberto Cidade have been conducting campaign tours across various municipalities in the state.
