Amazonas leaders rally around governor race and road projects

Manicoré mayor Lúcio Flávio do Rosário (PSD) announced his support for Roberto Cidade (União Brasil) in the upcoming Amazonas governor election, joining a growing list of mayors and state legislators who have endorsed the candidate despite belonging to parties backing other gubernatorial tickets.

Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB‑AM) visited Borba, urging the recovery of the Estrada do Rosarinho as a priority to improve the town’s connection to Manaus via BR‑319. He also promoted a port project at Rosarinho, highlighted broader regional infrastructure needs, and launched the pre‑candidacy of Simão Peixoto for the state legislature. Braga recalled that Borba hosted Brazil’s first floating basic health unit, a model now replicated across the Amazon.
