Amazonas legislature approves State Registry of Community Leaders

The Amazonas State Legislative Assembly (ALEAM) has approved Bill No. 29/2026, authored by President Adjuto Afonso. The legislation establishes a State Registry of Community Leaders to map, organize, and integrate information regarding community leadership and their activities across the state.

The initiative aims to create a database to better understand community actions in various regions without creating functional ties to the government or requiring state remuneration. The project also allows for potential partnerships with universities and civil society organizations to provide technical support and training for these leaders. The bill now moves to Governor Roberto Cidade for sanction.
