Amazonas prosecutor Marlinda Maria Dutra de Oliveira dies in Bahia drowning

Marlinda Maria Dutra de Oliveira, a 58-year-old public prosecutor from Amazonas, died following a drowning accident at Praia do Forte in Mata de São João, Bahia. She was in the state to attend the 3rd CONAMP Mulher Congress, a national event focused on the role of women within the Public Ministry.

According to local authorities, the incident occurred when Marlinda and a friend entered the sea in an area characterized by corals and strong currents. While the friend was rescued and transported to a hospital in Salvador via helicopter, Marlinda passed away at the scene despite emergency efforts by the Fire Department and Military Police.

The Amazonas Public Ministry (MPAM) issued statements expressing deep sorrow, noting her decades of service and dedication to justice. Her body was scheduled to be transported to Manaus for funeral services.
