Brazil authorities warn of judicial scams using fake hearings

Authorities in Brazil are warning against sophisticated judicial scams involving impersonation. In the Distrito Federal, a woman lost over R$ 3,000 after criminals used real information from an ongoing lawsuit to stage a fake videoconference. During the call, scammers posed as a judge and prosecutor, claiming she was entitled to a R$ 30,000 indemnity, but demanded Pix transfers to avoid alleged taxes and account blocks.

Similarly, the Court of Justice of Amapá (TJAP) has issued an alert regarding criminals posing as court officials. These scammers use legitimate case details, forged documents, and fake screenshots to convince victims to pay fees to accelerate legal processes or release funds. Officials emphasize that the judiciary never requests advance payments via Pix or other methods to expedite legal proceedings.
