Amazonian educators and students address climate change impacts
Educational initiatives in the Amazon region are focusing on the impacts of the climate crisis through journalism and environmental education. In Parintins, students from the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam) have launched a new season of the “Amazônia Ribeirinha” educational channel. The series, titled “Climate Crisis in the Amazon,” features reports on topics such as El Niño, the impact of droughts on fishing in Parintins, and how wildfires restrict access to indigenous territories.
In Porto Velho, the “Consciência Limpa” panel brought together educators and specialists to discuss integrating environmental education into school curricula. The event, promoted by the Fundação Rede Amazônica, focused on teaching children and youth about climate change, conscious consumption, and sustainable practices to address environmental challenges from an early age.
