Amazonian entrepreneurs discuss connectivity and sustainable investment in Peru

During the second day of the VII Congress of Amazonian Entrepreneurs (CEA 2026), government officials, specialists, and business leaders discussed strategies to integrate the Amazon region into Peru and international markets. Key topics included road and river connectivity, green financing, and sustainable investment mechanisms.

Minister of Agriculture Marco Vinelli emphasized the need for an infrastructure agenda to connect the Atlantic with the Pacific. He highlighted the economic potential of the region's 67 million hectares of forest for agriculture, fishing, and tourism, while noting existing logistical gaps. Proposed initiatives include the expansion of the Central Highway to Pucallpa and the Bioceanic Train project.

Former Minister of Transport and Communications Raúl Pérez Reyes argued that infrastructure must be paired with industrial policy to be effective. He suggested prioritizing fluvial connectivity, including the implementation of river lighting and signaling to facilitate safer nighttime navigation. Senator Patricia Iturregui added that all connectivity projects must adhere to sustainability criteria to preserve forest ecosystems.
