Amazon is expanding its voice‑assistant platform with the Alexa+ project, internally codenamed Moonraker. The effort aims to turn Alexa into a multi‑step AI agent capable of chaining requests—such as booking travel and sending messages—in a single command. Development relies on hundreds of Nvidia GPUs and Anthropic’s Sonnet reasoning model, with a tentative launch target of 2026.

Internal reports indicate that GPU spending alone has already exceeded $100 million, prompting debate within Amazon about scaling the project back and prioritising features. CEO Andy Jassy has expressed confidence in the initiative, but the company has not publicly commented on the rising costs or possible timeline adjustments.
