Ambassador Ambition passenger body found after North Sea search
A body has been recovered following a major search and rescue operation for a man reported overboard from the cruise ship Ambassador Ambition. The incident occurred in the North Sea, approximately 40 nautical miles from Anstruther, Fife, while the vessel was en route from Lerwick to Dundee.
The alarm was raised on Friday morning, August 21, 2026, after the captain and crew noticed a passenger was missing. The search involved HM Coastguard helicopters, aircraft, and RNLI lifeboats from Anstruther and Broughty Ferry, alongside various commercial vessels and police agencies.
Police Scotland confirmed that a body was found and brought ashore. While formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of the missing man has been informed. Ambassador Cruise Line stated it is working closely with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Police Scotland as the investigation continues.
