Ambassador Yehiel Leiter presents book on modern antisemitism in Rome

Yehiel Leiter, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, presented his new book, ‘La nuova accusa del sangue’ (The New Blood Libel), at an event in Rome. The book aims to reconstruct the facts of the conflict with Hamas and examine the political, cultural, and ideological dynamics surrounding the war.

During the presentation, hosted by Senator Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata, Leiter addressed the evolution of the ‘blood libel’—an ancient antisemitic myth—into contemporary political and media narratives. He accused certain ‘elite media’ members of participating in a modern version of this demonization against the State of Israel, contributing to a tide of disinformation.

The event, held at the Convent of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, included discussions on distinguishing legitimate criticism of government policy from the delegitimization of the Jewish state. Other notable attendees included the Israeli Ambassador to Italy, Jonathan Peled, and UCEI Vice President Monique Sasson.
