Ambedkar University Delhi PhD scholars protest mandatory attendance

PhD scholars at Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) are protesting against a circular issued on July 31 that mandates compulsory attendance. The Joint Action Committee of scholars is demanding the immediate withdrawal of the directive, arguing that the administration is imposing forced surveillance despite significant deficiencies in university infrastructure.

The All India Students' Association (AISA) has officially extended its support to the protesters. During a recent meeting between a student delegation and the Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Satyकेतु Sanskrit, tensions rose when a section officer reportedly demanded identification from the scholars.

The meeting ended without a resolution as the Dean refused to retract the circular, instead suggesting the requirement for attendance registers originated from individual school deans. Scholars have vowed to continue their peaceful struggle until the mandatory attendance policy is fully rescinded.
