Police rule out murder in death of IPS officer’s mother

Police investigations into the death of Indravati Devi, the mother of Lucknow-based IPS officer Ashutosh Mishra, have concluded that her death was due to a heart attack rather than murder or robbery.

Initially, the family reported a suspected murder and robbery at their ancestral home in Rudha Dhamrua village, Ambedkar Nagar, after noticing that gold jewellery, including a chain, nose pin, and earrings, appeared to be missing. The incident had drawn significant political attention, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticizing the state's law and order.

However, a post-mortem examination and subsequent police inquiry revealed no signs of struggle, violence, or external injury on the body. Forensic evidence and a thorough search of the residence confirmed that the missing jewellery was actually found safe within the house. Authorities have ruled out any criminal activity related to the death.
