Amber discovery on Hel Peninsula during beach cleanup
Dariusz Brzeski discovered a half-kilogram piece of amber while cleaning up trash on the Hel Peninsula. The valuable find was discovered accidentally inside ghost nets, which are discarded fishing nets that pose a significant threat to marine life in the Baltic Sea.
The amber, which features a unique shape resembling tree bark, is estimated to be worth several thousand PLN. Brzeski intends to use both the amber and the recovered ghost nets for educational purposes to raise awareness about ecological threats to the Baltic Sea and the natural treasures found within its environment.
