Amber hunters collect large pieces after Baltic storm
Following a series of July storms along the Vistula Spit in northern Poland, beachcombers posted videos and photos of abundant amber finds. Social‑media accounts showed crowds gathering "full handfuls" of the golden resin, with some collectors filling bags and jars with sizable specimens. The most notable haul was recorded on the beach at Krynica Morska, where three plastic bags were reportedly filled with amber. Participants noted that strong waves after the storms bring up material from the seabed, making the post‑storm period the most productive for amber hunting. Organisers warned that the turbulent Baltic Sea can still be hazardous, urging collectors to stay clear of high waves and maintain safety while searching among seaweed, driftwood and shells.
The activity has drawn enthusiastic comments online, with observers describing the finds as "amazing" and "beautiful" and expressing admiration for the unusually large pieces uncovered after the recent weather events.
