Delaware & Ulster Railroad resumes Catskills service

The Delaware & Ulster Railroad has resumed its passenger service in the Catskills region of New York after a seven-year hiatus. For the 2026 autumn season, the railroad has restored the route from Arkville to Halcottsville, a segment that had not operated in that direction since 2019.

The restoration project involved significant infrastructure work, including the installation of approximately 10,000 new railroad ties on the track between Arkville and Halcottsville, representing an investment of nearly $2 million. The 45-minute excursion follows the East Branch of the Delaware River through mountains, fields, and small towns, making it a popular option for viewing autumn foliage.

Trains are scheduled to depart from Arkville every Saturday through October 31, 2026. Ticket prices for the season start at $18 for children, $20 for seniors, and $23 for adults, with premium and first-class seating available between $25 and $30.
