Ambilital plans €40 million investment to boost recycling
Ambilital and Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV) have met in the Alentejo region to address challenges and opportunities in selective packaging collection across seven municipalities within the AMAGRA intermunicipal system. The discussion focused on overcoming obstacles such as territorial dispersion, tourism seasonality, and diverse industrial and rural activities.
Ambilital has announced a strategic plan involving approximately €40 million in investment to modernize operations and strengthen selective collection. This initiative aims to meet environmental targets set for 2030. The company reported significant growth in recycling volumes, with an 11% increase in 2025 and a 15% increase during the first nine months of 2026 compared to the previous year.
While regional progress is positive, national data from the Integrated Packaging Waste Management System (SIGRE) shows a global growth of only 1% for the first nine months of 2026. Portugal's national goals include recycling 65% of packaging placed on the market this year, with a target of 70% by 2030.
