Ambra Angiolini Leads 'Svegliare il giorno' at Taormina Arte 2026

The Fondazione Taormina Arte Sicilia launches its new artistic course with the original production “Svegliare il giorno,” performed on Saturday, 1 August at 05:00 am in the Ancient Theatre of Taormina. The piece opens the theatre section of the International Taormina Arte Festival 2026.

Ambra Angiolini stars in the show and also wrote its dramaturgy, drawing on the poems of Chandra Livia Candiani. The performance is accompanied by the Orchestra a Plettro Città di Taormina, conducted by Antonio Pellitteri, and features music by Franco Battiato arranged for the orchestra. Artistic director Simona Celi oversees the festival’s new direction, emphasizing an immersive experience that blends word, silence and music.

The event aims to offer the audience “not a reading but an experience,” inviting visitors to reconnect with listening, breath and inner reflection as the sunrise unfolds.
