AMC and Canal+ greenlight ‘Point Break’ sequel series

AMC and Canal+ have officially greenlit a television series continuation of the 1991 cult action film ‘Point Break’. The project is set in the present day, more than three decades after the original film’s events.

Rather than a remake, the eight-episode first season will follow a new heist crew with ties to the notorious ‘Ex-Presidents’ gang. The plot involves the FBI recruiting a mysterious former professional surfer with a checkered past to infiltrate the group.

Alcon Television Group is serving as the lead studio, with AMC Studios and StudioCanal acting as co-producers. Dave Kalstein and Christopher C. Rogers will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with Australia identified as a planned production base.
