AMC Announces Cast for NASCAR Drama 'Thunder Road' to debut in 2027

AMC and NASCAR are co‑producing a drama series titled "Thunder Road". Created by John Fusco and run by showrunner Taylor Elmore, the show follows the fictional Whitlock family’s multigenerational involvement in stock‑car racing. Production is set to begin in summer 2026 with a scheduled launch on AMC and the AMC+ streaming service in 2027.

The announced cast includes Dennis Quaid as racing legend Duane Whitlock, Maggie Grace as his daughter Lucy Whitlock, Shane McRae as crew chief Scooter Jakes, and supporting roles for Michael Rooker, Chase Stokes, Matt Barr, West Duchovny, Devon Allman and others. Executive producers also feature Cliff Roberts, Mark L. Smith, NASCAR Studios’ Tim Clark and John Dahl, with Gladys Cheng as producer.
