AMC Kips Bay 15 theater in Manhattan to close in 2026

The AMC Kips Bay 15 theater in Manhattan is scheduled to close at the end of 2026. The decision follows the property owner's choice to exercise a contractual right to terminate the lease before its original expiration date.

As the second-largest AMC multiplex in Manhattan, the 15-screen venue is known for its IMAX screen and diverse film selection. It has served as a popular alternative to busier locations near Times Square and Madison Square Garden.

AMC took over operations of the Kips Bay location in 2006. The closure will further reduce the number of AMC cinema options in Manhattan, joining a list of previously shuttered venues including the Village 7 and Lincoln Square 13 locations. A formal closure date is expected to be announced in the coming months.
