AmCham North Macedonia calls for stronger intellectual property protection

The American Chamber of Commerce in North Macedonia (AmCham) organized a roundtable discussion in Skopje focused on enhancing intellectual property (IP) protection. The event emphasized the role of the National Coordination Body in providing more effective safeguards for innovations, brands, and investments.

Participants included representatives from government institutions, the business community, and experts. Key speakers included Barnabas Birkeland from the U.S. Embassy in North Macedonia and Edwal Zoto from the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). AmCham Executive Director Jelena Arsovska stated that an efficient IP protection system creates security and encourages investment in new technologies and creative solutions.

Discussions highlighted several priorities to improve the IP landscape, including the regular functioning of the National Coordination Body, establishing a centralized information exchange system between institutions, organizing training for officials, and increasing public awareness regarding intellectual property rights.
