AMD commits up to $5 billion to Anthropic amid GPU deployment deal
AMD has committed to a future strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in the artificial intelligence developer Anthropic. This commitment is expected to be fulfilled through fiscal year 2028.
In addition to the financial investment, Anthropic has agreed to deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 series GPUs. The deployment of the first gigawatt is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.
Regarding Anthropic’s potential initial public offering (IPO), the company has submitted a confidential draft S-1 registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. While there has been speculation regarding the timing of a public prospectus, no official date or share price has been confirmed.
