AMD highlights shift toward AI agents as a digital workforce

Artificial intelligence is transitioning from a simple question-answering tool into a “digital workforce” capable of executing complex tasks through AI agents. This shift is expected to fundamentally change how businesses organize personnel, manage budgets, and build infrastructure.

According to Microsoft’s Work Trend Index 2025, 53% of leaders in the Asia-Pacific region reported using agents to automate business processes, a figure higher than the global average of 46%. As employees begin to manage multiple agents that perform tasks like document synthesis and data verification, computing resource consumption is expected to rise.

Alexey Navolokin, Managing Director of AMD for Asia-Pacific, noted that businesses are moving from merely purchasing AI tools to operating AI as a core component of their daily activities. He highlighted that computing resource consumption will increasingly depend on agent activity levels rather than just the number of employees at workstations.
