AMD increases GDDR6 memory prices for graphics card partners
AMD has reportedly implemented a price increase for the GDDR6 memory modules it supplies to its graphics card assemblers and manufacturing partners. This measure, which reportedly took effect on October 1, is expected to impact the retail prices of Radeon graphics cards.
The impact is expected to be most significant for latest-generation cards, such as the RX 9000 series based on the RDNA 4 architecture, as older models are often discontinued or produced in lower volumes. Beyond VRAM, other production costs for components like printed circuit boards (PCBs) and SMD components have also seen increases in recent months.
In China, price adjustments have already been observed, with the Radeon RX 9070 seeing a suggested retail price increase of approximately $104 USD, while the RX 9060 XT rose by about $45 USD. In contrast, Nvidia has not reportedly notified partners of similar price adjustments for its GDDR7-based RTX 50 series for the remainder of the year, though the company had previously raised prices for memory packages in July.
