AMD introduces Agentic PC era with Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 400

AMD is transitioning from the AI PC era to the era of the ‘Agentic PC,’ focusing on local systems designed to run AI agents continuously. To support this, the company introduced the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 400 series processors. These processors feature up to a 16-core Zen 5 CPU, a 40-core GPU, and a 55 TOPS NPU. A key feature is the support for up to 192GB of unified memory, with up to 160GB allocatable to the GPU, enabling the local execution of large-scale models with approximately 300 billion parameters.

Running AI agents locally aims to reduce the high costs associated with cloud-based token pricing. By shifting workloads to local ‘Agent Computers,’ users and businesses can automate complex, iterative tasks—such as research, coding, and content generation—without recurring subscription or token fees.

In the professional sector, AMD has also introduced ‘AMD Ross,’ an agentic AI assistant specifically for embedded development. Ross integrates with AMD’s embedded portfolio, including FPGAs and SoCs, to assist engineers with system architecture, hardware design, debugging, and software development through natural language interaction and specialized engineering workflows.
