AMD launches ROCm.ai AI development platform for its hardware

AMD announced a new AI‑native software suite called ROCm.ai at the Advancing AI 2026 conference. The platform integrates a command‑line interface (ROCm CLI), AMD Skills that embed AMD‑specific knowledge into popular AI code assistants such as Claude, Cursor and Codex, and an open‑source Hyperloom system that automates end‑to‑end optimization of inference workloads.

ROCm.ai is designed to streamline the installation, deployment, debugging and performance tuning of AI workloads on AMD hardware. AMD reports average inference performance gains of 3.3× and training gains of 2.4× compared with the prior ROCm 7 stack. The suite will be released globally in August 2026. Anush Elangovan, AMD’s vice‑president of AI software, said the platform “shortens the distance from idea to production” and lets developers build and iterate rapidly using familiar coding assistants.
