AMD Launches Ryzen AI Halo Platform and Max PRO Processors for Local Agentic AI
AMD introduced the Ryzen AI Halo developer platform, built around the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor. The system offers up to 128 GB of unified memory, enabling desktop machines to run AI models with up to 200 billion parameters locally. It supports major AI frameworks such as PyTorch, vLLM, llama.cpp, Ollama, ComfyUI and LM Studio, all optimized for AMD’s ROCm stack, allowing developers to move from Linux prototyping to Windows deployment on a single workstation.
In parallel, AMD announced the Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 series processors, based on the Zen 5 architecture. The flagship Max+ PRO 495 features 16 cores, 32 threads, 40 RDNA 3.5 graphics compute units and 55 NPU TOPS, with support for up to 192 GB of unified system memory and 160 GB of VRAM. These specifications aim to bring high‑performance, low‑latency AI compute to traditional desktop form factors, addressing the previous neglect of desktop machines in the AI hardware market.
