AMD launches $4 billion to $5 billion debt offering for AI expansion
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has launched a four-part senior unsecured debt offering, aiming to raise between $4 billion and $5 billion. The offering consists of tranches maturing in 2029, 2031, 2033, and 2036. The company intends to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include the repayment of existing debt.
This significant capital raise comes as semiconductor manufacturers increasingly turn to capital markets to fund intensive investments in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, data-center expansion, and manufacturing projects. The move follows similar fundraising efforts by other tech firms like Intel, Nvidia, and Alphabet. AMD's expansion is supported by recent strategic partnerships with companies such as Microsoft and Anthropic to bolster its presence in the AI processor market.
Financial institutions including Bank of America, JPMorgan, Barclays, and Wells Fargo are leading the debt sale. Settlement for the bonds is expected on August 17. Analysts have maintained a bullish outlook on the company, citing strong guidance and projected growth in the data center segment.
