AMD posts record Q2 2026 earnings as data‑center revenue soars, but shares tumble

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported fiscal‑2026 second‑quarter revenue of $11.54 billion, a 50 % year‑over‑year increase. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.66, beating the consensus estimate of $1.62. The data‑center segment generated $6.72 billion, up 107 % YoY and accounting for about 58 % of total revenue, driven by strong demand for EPYC processors and Instinct GPUs.

AMD forecast third‑quarter revenue of roughly $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million, above Wall Street’s $12.5 billion expectation. Capital expenditures for the quarter were $808 million, almost three times the $298 million analysts had anticipated. The company said its second‑generation Helios AI servers, featuring the MI455X accelerator and the “Venice” processor, are now in full production and will begin shipping in the coming months.

Despite the beat, the stock fell 7 %–9 % in after‑hours/extended trading, as investors expressed disappointment with the outlook and reacted to Elon Musk’s comment that SpaceX will use Nvidia chips exclusively for AI workloads. CEO Lisa Su highlighted the continued momentum in AI‑driven data‑center demand and projected data‑center revenue to more than double by 2027.
